Two Michiana colleges named top 5 for safest in Indiana

If safety is a priority in you or your child's college search, you don't have to look far. Two Michiana colleges are among the safest in the state of Indiana, according to a new report.

BackgroundCheck.org compiles a list every year of the safest colleges in Indiana. Both Bethel College and Goshen College made the top 5.

IU South Bend and Notre Dame also cracked the top 25. The data was compiled using FBI crime reports, student surveys, social media analysis and some independent research. Of note, these smaller schools finished higher on the list than bigger institutions like IU Bloomington and Ball State. The best ranking for a major university is Purdue at number 14.

Goshen and Bethel colleges finished 3 and 4 respectively.
