Two Michiana orthopedic health clinics to merge

Two companies are joining forces to help take care of patients in Michiana.

Thursday, South Bend Orthopedics and Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center announced the companies will merge together.

The new company will be called Ascendant Orthopedic Alliance and bring together seven offices across Michiana.

The new alliance is hoping to make the necessary investments to provide state-of-the-art services to healthcare.

“There is a lot of collaboration going on. There is a lot of consolidation going on. And what we are looking to do is to benefit from these economies to scale that a larger organization can achieve as opposed to some of the smaller organizations. What we are really looking at, is trying to provide an organization that generates higher quality at lower costs,” says Don Hammond, CEO of OSMC.

They say the merger will not affect jobs, but will help them provide better care.
