Two minors injured after police chase
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Two minors were injured and police are looking to charge one of them after allegedly leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 9:15 a.m. Friday, Bristol Police Officers tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle along C.R. 23 after noticing the vehicle was stolen.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop for police and instead traveled northbound on C.R. 23 at high speeds, reports said.
As the driver of the vehicle was turning west onto C.R. 2, he was driving too fast to safely make the turn. The vehicle lost traction and hit a tree off the north side of the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old, was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver was then taken to the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center for alleged runaway violations and warrants, police said.
Bristol Police will be requesting charges for the following, reports said:
- Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle resulting in serious bodily injury
- Possession of stolen property
The passenger of the vehicle was flown by Medflight to a local hospital for head injuries.
