MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The School City of Mishawaka honored Angelina Lazovich and Ben Modlin with Teacher of the Year awards for going above and beyond for students this school year.
Lazovich is a sixth-grade teacher at Beiger Elementary School and Modlin is the engineering teacher at Mishawaka High School.
“I’m very blessed to work in a wonderful school system that cares about their employees. I’ve scarified a lot of time for my students, ‘my kids’, and taken away time from my wife and my kids to be with them and to do things. So, to be recognized for that is wonderful. It’s very, again, humbling,” said Modlin.
Both teachers will be put in the running for Indiana State Teacher of the Year as well. Those applications are due by July 1.
