Two new Elkhart Police officers sworn in

During the Board of Safety Meeting Tuesday, Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese swore in two new Elkhart Police Officers.

Patrolman Jeffrey Swygart graduated from Northwood High School and attended Bethel College.
Patrolman Timothy Zimmer graduated from Bremen High School and is a graduate of Anderson University.

Swygart and Zimmer will attend the 15 week Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in the near future.

After they complete that training, they will return to the Elkhart Police Department for 12 weeks of field training.

The hiring of these two officers brings the department to 122 of the 126 budgeted positions.
