Two people dead after car fire in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Two people have died following a car fire early Friday morning, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office announced.

According to the investigation, at 3:50 a.m., a vehicle was stuck in a driveway in the 57000 block of M-51 South because of the heavy snowfall.

Attempts to get the vehicle out were not successful and deputies believe carbon monoxide may have filled the vehicle, leaving the two occupants unconscious.

The heat from the overworked engine is believed to have caused a fire, reports said.

The names of the victims have not been released until positive identification is made.
