Two people injured during alleged domestic dispute Thursday morning

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Two people were injured in an exchange of gunfire during a domestic dispute Thursday morning, the St. Joseph Charter Township Police Department reported.

At 10:50 a.m., police were called to a house near Hoover Avenue for reports of shots fired.

After further investigation, police learned that an argument had taken place and shots were fired between two people, police said.

One person was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle.

Police discovered that the incident was allegedly due to a domestic dispute between several people, reports said.

After being treated and released from the hospital, the person who received the gunshot wound to the leg was taken to the Berrien County Jail on a preliminary charge of assault to commit great bodily harm less than murder, police said.

All other people involved were interviewed and released pending review by the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office.
