A quick punch of snow and cold
SOUTH BEND, Ind – Neighbors in the South Bend Community are speaking out after two shootings within 24 hours.
Thursday evening there was a shooting on Donald Street in South Bend where a 13-year-old was shot in the hand and 19 hours later another teen was shot, this time on Fairview Avenue, less than a mile from Riley High School.
“You don’t know where to be or when to be because it’s happening everywhere,” South Bend resident Jami Daniels said.
The two recent shootings come after South Bend’s latest Board of Safety meeting to address police and community relations along with policing policies to improve safety in the city.
South Bend resident Kalume Tshimanga said there needs to be a change in approach by both the city and community.
“We need to be more proactive, it seems like we’re just playing catch up,” Tshimanga said.
Both, Thursday’s shooting on Donald Street, and Friday’s shooting on Fairview Avenue remain under investigation.
