BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Berrien County Sheriff's Office reports there was a two-vehicle crash on I-94 near the 15-mile marker in Lake Township, Sunday morning.

Authorities say the initial investigation shows, around 5:00 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle.

Documents state one of the driver’s, 69-year-old Lynn Calkins from Iowa, was declared deceased at the hospital. An autopsy is scheduled to determine exact cause of death.

The driver of the other involved vehicle was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail for operating while intoxicated causing death.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.

The crash is being investigated by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.

Officials say alcohol and speed are both believed to be factors in this crash.
