Two victims injured in Dowagiac shooting Sunday morning

DOWAGIAC, Mich. – Dowagiac police are investigating a shooting that resulted in injuries early Sunday morning.

According to Dowagiac Public Safety Director Steven Grinnewald, a shooting occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. Sunday morning in the 200 block of Miller Street.

Officers received a 911 call regarding a fight that happened at a party.

When officers cleared the party of the remaining individuals they were told that two subjects had taken themselves to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

When authorities arrived to the hospital they located the two victims that had come from the party.

Both male victims, a 21-year-old from Ohio and a 21-year from Benton Harbor, Michigan were struck in the leg.

At this time the injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

The suspect or suspects are currently unknown.

The investigation is on-going.
