Ultralight plane crashes in Covert Township, victims identified

COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A small ultralight plane crashed on the beach at Covert Township Park in Michigan.

The single propeller plane went down around 1 p.m. Friday.

Both passengers were transported to area hospitals.

The plane took off from Cassopolis.

There were 30-40 people on the beach at the time of the accident.

The FAA is on its way to investigate.

The pilot has been identified as 42-year-old Timothy Scott Feathers of Cassopolis.

The passenger has been identified as Dillen Smith, 15-year-old of South Bend.
