Undercover video unveils cruelty at pig farm; Walmart targeted

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- New undercover video reportedly exposes horrific conditions at a pig farm that supplies Walmart.

Animal welfare group, Mercy for Animals said the undercover video taken at Minnesota's Christensen Farms shows horrific abuse.

Some images, too graphic for television, show piglets being slammed head-first, into the pavement.

TV icon and animal advocate Bob Barker is using his star power to put the abuse in the spotlight.

"The best day of their lives is the day they die,” said Barker.

"Gestation crates deprive animals of even the most basic natural behaviors and needs and as a result, these animals go insane,” said Nathan Runkle of Mercy for Animals

In a statement, Walmart said it offers gestation crate-free pork products at several stores.

While blunt force trauma is accepted as a standard form of euthanasia, the company said it now uses carbon dioxide, but it believes gestation stalls allow for the best care.
