United Way of St. Joseph County hands out unique donation

ST. JOSEPH CO., Ind. --The United Way of St. Joseph County is helping to hand out a unique donation.

The United Way has been working with a Notre Dame student who went around to local hotels and collected personal care products that weren't being used.

Often, they were new bottles of shampoo or bars of soap that were never used by hotel guests.

The student coordinated the pick-up, then dropped them off at the United Way where the items are repackaged.

"It's hard to imagine not having toilet paper or Kleenex, so the pantries come and pick it up," said Karen Sommers, Vice President of United Way.

The United Way said these donations are expected to be life-changing for people who are looking for a job.
