UPDATE: BMX star improving in Virigina hospital

We have an update on a local BMX star's condition.

Brett Banasiewicz took a nasty fall during a practice session Thursday in Virginia and was placed in a medically-induced coma.

ESPN said he is still sedated and in stable condition.

On Monday, they tweeted that Brett attempted to get out of bed by kicking one of the machines at his bedside and attempted to sit up.

His neurosurgeon feels that Brett can make a full recovery.
