UPDATE

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - The body found along the riverbank near Bower St. and N. Riverside Drive Sunday, Sept. 3 has been identified as 31-year-old Randall Long of Elkhart County.

Cause and manner of death have yet to be determined.

ORIGINAL STORY

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating a body found on the riverbank near Bower St. and N. Riverside Drive, Sunday evening, Sept. 3. 

A report of a dead male body discovered along the St. Joe River was reported at about 6:30 Sunday night. 

Elkhart Police and emergency workers quickly responded to the scene. 

Upon arriving, officers discovered a decomposed male body on the bank, prompting the Elkhart County Homicide Unit to get involved.

At this time, the cause and manner of death are unknown, and the victim's identity is being withheld, pending family notification.
