UPDATE: Metro Homicide called to investigate infant's death

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit investigators were called to 1030 Lincolnway West, near the corner of Sherman Avenue, late Monday night.

Although officials said they are not going to comment on the investigation, ABC 57 News confirmed with the mother that her 1-month-old baby girl has died.

The family said they just recently moved into the home. The mother told ABC 57 that her little girl started coughing up blood, so she starting doing CPR. When that did not work, the mother said she quickly called for help.

Metro Homicide investigators showed up to the house a couple hours later and spent much of their time inside the home taking photos.

A neighbor that lives down the street from the home said she remembers seeing an ambulance at home earlier in the evening, around 7 p.m., before it rushed off in the direction of Memorial Hospital.
