UPDATE: Police release names of granfather, toddler who accidentally drowned

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- We now know the identities of two people who accidentally drowned in a Granger family's swimming pool.

It's an update to a story we broke on Thursday at 10 p.m.

Police responded to the home on Glen Arbor Court after family found 18-month-old Charlotte Chelminiac and 55-year-old David Prentkowski at the bottom of the pool.

Prentkowski was the long-time Director of Food Services at Notre Dame.

We reached out to the university on Friday after and President John Jenkins gave us this statement:

"Dave and Charlottes' tragic deaths are a shocking and heartbreaking loss. Dave's energy, devotion, and courage will continue to inspire the Notre Dame family, even as his death and the Prentkowski family's grief are in our prayers."

Prentkowski has been undergoing treatments for pancreatic cancer.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
