UPDATE: South Bend Councilman considers smoking ban ordinance

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend Common Council member, Gavin Ferlic, is trying to decide whether or not to bring his smoking ban ordinance before the council next week.

As of right now, the ordinance is scheduled for a public hearing and a vote on Monday.

The ordinance takes the state ban that went into effect on July 1, and goes a few steps further. It would ban smoking in bars and restaurants.

There has been support and opposition for the measure which has been delayed for months.

ABC 57's Jason Aubry reports.
