UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal semi vs. SUV collision in Marshall County

BREMEN, Ind. – We now know the names of the people involved in a fatal SUV and semi collision that happened Wednesday morning on U.S. 6 in Marshall County.

The fatal crash happened around 6:30 a.m. near the Pla-More Campground in Bremen.

The Marshall County Sheriff tells us the semi was heading westbound when the SUV crossed the center line causing a head-on collision. The semi did catch on fire.

The driver of the SUV died on impact. He has been identified as 23-year-old Taylor Dodds of South Bend. The coroner has notified the family.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor. There is some speculation that with the rising sun so low at 6:30 a.m., Dodds could have been blinded by it.

The driver of the semi, 55-year-old David Bryant, suffered only minor bumps and bruises.
