SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Today, ABC57 attended the office press conference at the County-City Building in South Bend hosted by Chief Deputy Attorney General, Blake Lanning.
Lanning has provided updates on Rokita's lawsuit against the St. Joseph County Police and Sherrif Bill Redman along with the Attorney General's intention to appeal the court decision to dismiss it.
"After we saw that designation, we contacted ICE, asked them to confirm that that was an accurate designation, and they did so." Lanning said during today's conference. "Including by providing abundant statistical evidence to our office."
Lanning says that they are confident that the appeal will be successful but will take it to the Indiana Supreme Court if necessary.
