U.S. 6 in La Porte County to close down for crossing rebuild

LaPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that U.S. 6 will close on Wednesday, July 31, in LaPorte County. Grand Trunk Western Railroad will be rebuilding a crossing at that location.

The crossing is located between State Road 39 and C.R. 50 W.

Officials expect the road to reopen in mid-August.

Eastbound drivers on U.S. 6 will be detoured south on State Road 39, east on U.S. 30 and north on U.S. 35 back to U.S. 6.

Westbound drivers on U.S. 6 will be detoured south on U.S. 35, west on U.S. 30 and north on State Road 39 back to U.S. 6.
