USPS bracing for default on health care payments

The United States Postal Service needs some serious help from Congress.

It owes more than $5 billion in health care prepayments. The government mandates the service to prefund benefits for future retirees.

Postal officials say they're bracing for default on this payment as well as the one due at the end of September.

There won't be any impact on employees' pay, or your mail delivery.

The postal service is currently operating on a loan, from the treasury.
