Valentine's Day events kickoff this weekend with multiple local events
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Even though the actual holiday is still a few weeks away, some local organizations and businesses are kicking off their celebrations of the heart-warming holiday season this weekend.
Downtown Goshen's February "First Fridays: Sweet Treats" began Friday at 10 a.m. and will go all day long and into the evening.
"Ol’ Man Winter does his best this time of year to make like a windshield scraper and chip away at our joyful spirit. In response, this First Friday and the month of February, wards off the seasonal melancholy with the chance to reward and pamper yourself with over-the-top sweet treats and even sweeter deals, in Downtown Goshen," event organizers said.
"Revisit your favorite downtown locations to discover new, decadent treats; luxuriate in the mouth-watering offerings at downtown’s wonderful eating and drinking establishments; visit Goshen’s downtown retail shops and merchants to find deals and items that will put the pep back in your step!"
There will also be a Valentine's Sip 'n' Shop at the Adore Decor in Mishawaka on Saturday.
"Grab someone you love to shop with and stop in for refreshments, door prizes, sale items and more," the event's Facebook page says.
In Warsaw, there will be a Valentine's Market at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds on Saturday.
"You’ll be able to shop from many vendors, buy some food, face painting, kids craft and more," organizers said.
Children's activities at the market will include Valentine’s Day card making, a mini Valentine's photoshoot, face painting, crafts, and a bubble balloon house.
