BOURBON, Ind. -- An official announcement from Triton Jr. Sr. High School revealed varsity girls basketball head coach JD Feaster resigned from his position Thursday.

The district noted it may come as a surprise to families, players, and students considering the recent parent and player meeting held on Wednesday.

Feaster was hired as the girls varsity basketball coach on June 23, according to the Triton Athletic Department.

The district's announcement states in part:

"While we understand this may feel like a setback for our girls basketball program, the priority of Triton Administration will be to move forward and identify a head coach who is in the best interest of our student-athletes and the continued development of our basketball program.

We appreciate the support of our parents, players, and community as we work through this transition. Our focus will remain on providing our student athletes with a positive, competitive, and supportive experience."
