Vehicle seemingly loses control, crashes into Baroda fire apparatus

BARODA, Mich. -- The Baroda Fire Department provided an update Thursday morning on a July 2 crash that involved a vehicle they currently have on loan from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
"At the time of the incident the vehicle was blocking traffic for an active fire call. It was parked along the roadway with emergency lights activated," BFD Chief Chris Burch said.
"As we were in the process of clearing the scene, a vehicle traveling westbound appears to have lost control and struck our vehicle. The driver/operator of our vehicle was outside the vehicle putting equipment away at the time of the crash."
Fire officials say, as a precautionary measure and part of department policy, the firefighter was taken to a local hospital for an examination.
"The firefighter was able to return to service on July 4," Burch said.
"The names of those involved is being withheld pending the completion of the ongoing investigation by the Michigan State Police."
