MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- For the past three years, VFW Post 360 has opened its doors on Thanksgiving Day to give a free meal to those who have served our country.
The Post Commander, Dan Gann, decided to host the event after he noticed local veterans were in need of a place to gather.
“It’s just a happy day… I get kind of emotional over it, because I know what the struggle is. You know, from being a veteran, I know that other veterans are looking for somebody they can actually talk with. Sometimes they’ll tell stories that they haven’t told their family, and that’s what it’s about,” said Gann.
Gann says the VFW welcomes new volunteers throughout the year. Click here to get connected.
