Another round of rain, then a cool weekend
ELKHART, Ind. -- A shooting left a man dead in Elkhart on Sunday night.
The victim, who police have identified as 21-year-old Keandre Marquez Baker, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At 10:40 p.m., officers with the Elkhart Police Department arrived to the area of S. 6th Street and W. Cleveland Avenue for a shots fired report.
A residence in the 1700 block of S. 6th Street had been damaged by apparent gunfire, police said.
No injuries were reported at that time.
At 11:50 p.m., dispatch got a call about an unknown medical situation/man down in an alley south of the 600 block of W. Cleveland Avenue.
Officers got to the scene and found the man, later identified as Baker, unresponsive.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
