Victim in crash of an off-road vehicle has died

PIERCETON, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has identified 45-year-old Jason Tolle of Pierceton as the victim of a crash in Kosciusko County involving an off-road vehicle. Tolle died as a result of injuries from blunt force trauma.

Deputies were initially dispatched to the scene on Saturday around 7:40 p.m. on reports of a crash near Ridinger Lake in Kosciusko County.

Officials say that Tolle, the passenger of the vehicle, was found unresponsive.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, 39-year-old Joel Zehner, had fled the scene in the wrecked off-road vehicle.

Zehner was later tracked down by deputies and apprehended.

Formal charges against Zehner have yet to be announced.
