ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.-- Bremen and Madison Township firefighters put out a barn fire at Riley Road Thursday night.
The fire started in a utility barn just before 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Originally firefighters sounded a box alarm because they believed horses were inside the barn.
According to the Madison Township Fire Chief, the metal sheeting on the roof helped to contain the flames.
Dale Schlarb said, "When we got on scene we found out that the homeowner was using a garden hose to put the fire out and he did a pretty good job and knocked it out by himself and luckily there were no horses or animals in the building."
