SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The “Rebuilding Together” program will help homeowners in April as volunteers will assemble to make free repairs to houses on the west side of South Bend.
On two Saturdays in April, 500 volunteers will complete needed house repairs for 20 elderly or disabled homeowners.
“We're senior citizens, so it doesn't always work out to have the best contractors. You know not everybody is as honest you know, so that was too weary for me to make sure that was correctly,” said one assisted homeowner.
The 20 homes will receive a combined $200,000 worth of critical repairs that could not be completed without the assistance of the program.
