Volunteers in Southwest Michigan help winterize homes

MICHIGAN.-- Plenty of seniors in Southwest Michigan are ready for snow.

About 400 volunteers winterized homes today in Berrien and Cass counties. It was part of the United Way's "Day of Action" for seniors.

This is the first time they've ever done it. Volunteers raked leaves and cleaned out gutters.

"I've been on this corner for 34 years and I used to keep my yard and everything else up, but I can't do it now,” says Eleanor Johnson.

United Way came up with the idea for Action Day, because it was getting so many calls from folks looking for help with yard work.  This was the first year for the program.

United Way hasn't yet decided if it will do it again next year.
