WALKERTON, Ind.-- The wish of a deserving little girl from Walkerton came true Sunday night with the help of local organizations and neighbors.
Four-year-old Savannah Nowak had a Granulosa Cell tumor removed last year. She is still recovering but doctors say she will be okay.
In February, Make-A-Wish got involved to help ease her family’s burden and show Savannah some fun!
After ten months of planning, Savannah’s wish—a brand new backyard playground, was unveiled Sunday night.
Rose Darrah calls herself one of the “Volunteer Wish Granters.” She’s been working with Savannah and the family to plan the surprise. She said the reveal was emotional.
“It’s what she’s wanted. It’s for her and her sisters to enjoy, share, laugh, to forget all the trouble. She’s a special little girl. She’s precocious, opinionated. She deserves this,” says Darrah.
Local manufacturing company Central States sponsored the surprise.
It included a fun day for Savannah with friends and family in Chicago while local builders put together her playground back at home.
“It’s a wish come true for Savannah. Two years ago we didn’t know what was going to happen and now we’re out here with all these people who helped make her dream come true. We just can’t thank them enough,” says her dad Jason.
