Walkerton SWAT standoff ends in peaceful surrender
WALKERTON, Ind. -- A suspect has been arrested after the St. Joseph County SWAT team was called into a domestic disturbance situation.
Walkteron officers were called to 204 Norway Spruce Ln. around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday night for a domestic disturbance.
Officers found the suspect, Jacob William Kenny, in the garage holding an unknown item.
A victim stated Kenny threatened to shoot her with a shotgun.
Kenny was going to kill any officers that responded to the scene, and then barricaded himself in the attic above the garage.
The St. Joseph County SWAT team was called to the scene.
Around 2 a.m., SWAT was able to successfully negotiate Kenny's surrender.
A search warrant was attained following the suspect's arrest.
A large amount of marijuana was located on the premises and seized by officers.
Kenny was booked into the St. Joseph County Jail for felony intimidation, felony maintaining a common nuisance, misdeanor dealing of marijuana and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Officers from Lakeville Police, North Liberty Police, St. Joseph County Police, and SWAT officers from St. Joseph County, Mishawaka Police and Pokagon Police assisted the Walkton Police Department with the situation.
