Wanted fugitive arrested after fleeing on bike from known drug house

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports detectives with the Van Buren County Narcotics Unit were surveilling a known drug house in Geneva Township on Thursday around 6:45 p.m. when they witnessed a wanted fugitive leave the house on bicycle.

Detectives knew the fugitive had multiple felony warrants for his arrest including assaulting a police officer.

The report states detectives then followed the wanted man, identified as 30-year-old Jimmy Capio of South Haven, Mich.

Detectives then made contact with Capio, telling him to stop and get off the bike because he was under arrest.

The report states Capio started to pedal faster to avoid arrest.

Detectives pulled past Capio and told him again to stop.

When he didn't stop, detectives chased Capio and tackled him off the bike.

Capio was then placed in handcuffs and taken to the Van Buren County Jail.

One detective sustained a minor shoulder injury during the incident.
