ELKHART, Ind. – Several warming centers have been made available to the Michiana community. If you need get out of the cold, you are welcome to use them.
Guidance Ministries in Elkhart is one of the warming centers, and they are offering showers, cots, food, clothes and laundry services.
“We opened an hour early today at 8 a.m.,” Angie Wogonan said, the Director of Homeless Services at Guidance Ministries. “Faith mission has a low barrier shelter that closes at 7, so we came in an hour early so that we could cut down the amount of time they were in the cold. By 9 o’clock there were 45 people in here so it was definitely a big jump in our number.”
Valentine’s Day gifts will also be handed out at each warming center!
