Warsaw man killed in farming accident

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A Warsaw man died Sunday evening while operating a Bobcat skid-loader.

Police were called to 1657 E. CR225 South in Warsaw at 6:48 p.m. Sunday. The initial reports came in as a man trapped under a skid-loader.

When officers and paramedics arrived, they found 65-year-old John Bud Elliott crushed between hydraulic bucket arms and the body of the skid-loader.

The coroner arrived and pronounced Elliott dead from blunt force trauma to the chest.

The deputy coroner says it appears Elliott was trying to exit the front of the skid loader and his clothing got caught on the hydraulic operating lever and he was pinched between the machinery.

The deputy coroner says it is unclear what Elliott was going to use the machine for.

Although the incident remains under investigation, it is being considered a farming accident, according to the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
