Washington High students start petition drive for SBCSC advocates

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend students are rallying behind student advocates.

ABC57 News was told Washington High students have started a petition. Under the new budget cuts, employees like Shawn Henderson would be let go.

“My hope and my belief is that it’s not a done deal,” said SBCSC student advocate Shawn Henderson. “And that’s not going off a word that anyone has spoken. It’s my belief and my faith that it’s not a done deal.  It’s needed.”

The district has four student advocates. Officials want to get rid of all of those positions.
