ST.JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A waste disposal company that is serving different parts of Michiana has started a program to give back to its own employees, as well as local businesses at the same time.
Committed to serve was started four weeks ago by Republic Services, a nationwide waste disposal company, as a way to provide their employees local meals to bring home to their families.
The two part program includes a meal portion where employees are given a meal for themselves every Tuesdays and a take-home meal every Friday. The second part of the program includes a - gift card distribution where employees are encouraged to buy local.
The program was started to help frontline employees during this difficult time and to help local restaurants and shops that may be struggling right now.
“Our executive at Phoenix, Arizona really thought that this program will be a great way to show our company’s values,”Republic Services General Manager, Cody Humphrey said. “We know it’s a difficult time, it’s a tough job that our front line employees do each day.'
Some of the local businesses they’ve been supporting include Hacienda, Bourbon Street Pizza and Wings Et Cetera.
