West Virginia residents arrested on drug charges after traffic stop on Toll Road
LA GRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- Two West Virginia residents were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road, according to Indiana State Police.
A trooper stopped a 1999 Ford Explorer for a traffic violation around 10 p.m. Tuesday near the 122 mile marker.
While speaking to the driver, 40-year-old Edward Butler of Hinton, West Virginia, the trooper smelled the odor of marijuana, police said.
During a search of the vehicle, the trooper seized approximately 5 grams of suspected heroin, 23 used syringes, suspected marijuana and paraphernalia.
Butler was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, and was issued traffic citations.
His passenger, 27-year-old Tiffany Dicapua, of Hinton, West Virginia, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a syringe and possession of a narcotic drug. She also had an active warrant out of Texas.
A small child in the SUV at the time was released to its mother.
