SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Department of Homeland Security has provided pocket cards and step-by-step directions on what should be done in the case of an active shooter situation.
Run
Do not worry about your belongings and have an escape route in mind.
Hide
Steer clear of the shooter's view and block the entries to your hiding place.
Remember to lock the door if possible and silence your phone.
Try and Incapacitate the shooter
DHS suggested at last resort, throw objects and use physical aggression.
