BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. --Today marks the second annual "Girls Rock It" event, hosted by Whirlpool Corporation and Lake Michigan College.
This event aims to inspire and empower the next generation of women in STEM fields.
Throughout the day, participants will have the chance to learn coding basics and game/app development, hear from speakers, and connect with women who are leaders in their respective fields.
Girls in second through fifth grade will learn all about coding basics using MIT's Scratch program while girls grades sixth through eighth will learn how to create their own app using MIT's App Inventor program.
Although registration for today’s event is closed, Whirlpool says they are hosting more events like this in the future.
