Winter weather advisory, travel advisories in effect for parts of Michiana

ST.JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather advisory is in effect for several Michiana counties until 7 a.m. Feb.13.

Counties affected by the winter weather advisory include Berrien, Cass, Elkhart, LaGrange, LaPorte, Steuben and St. Joseph.

These counties may see strong winds gusting at up to 45 mph with snow accumulations of 1-3 inches possible.

During a winter weather advisory, snow may impact travel, reduce visibility and cause slick areas. Drivers are asked to use caution while the effect remains in place.

Current travel advisories are in effect for Cass, Elkhart, LaPorte and St. Joseph among others.

This evening multiple accidents have been reported across several counties since approximately 5:30 p.m.

In Berrien County, dispatch reports approximately six accidents.

In Cass County, dispatch reports approximately two accidents.

In Elkhart, dispatch reports approximately four accidents.

In Marshall County, dispatch reports two accidents.
