Witnesses help police locate auto theft suspect

A man has been arrested on charges related to the theft of a vehicle from a home Saturday evening, according to the probable cause affidavit.

On November 19, a resident started her car, then headed back inside. She then heard tires squealing and saw her Jeep being driven away.

The woman's fiance got into his vehicle and followed the Jeep until the suspect jumped out of the Jeep at Lawrence and Main Street.

The fiance tried to chase the suspect, then noticed the Jeep driving away.

He lost sight of the Jeep after it turned on Main Street.

Police said the Jeep crashed into a utility pole at Broadway and Main Street. A witness saw a man run from the vehicle and provided police with a description.

The suspect was located and taken into custody, according to police.

Daquan King was arrested and charged with auto theft and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license.
