Woman accused of trying to hit ex-boyfriend with her truck
DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- A woman is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly driving over a curb and onto the sidewalk in an attempt to hit her ex-boyfriend, according to Dowagiac Police.
Police were dispatched to Main Street near Pennsylvania Avenue around noon on Sunday when a truck crashed into a utility pole.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke with a pedestrian. He told police his ex-girlfriend attempted to hit him with her truck.
He said he was walking to the grocery store when his ex-girlfriend drove her truck up onto the sidewalk towards him, reports said.
He saw her coming so he stepped behind the light pole to protect himself, reports said.
The truck struck the pole and broke it.
Police said the victim was not injured in the incident.
The driver suffered an injury to her wrist.
Once she was released from the hospital, the 35 year old woman from Dowagiac was taken to the Cass County Jail on a preliminary charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
