One person arrested for armed robbery in Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – One person was arrested Tuesday for alleged involvement in a January 2020 armed robbery at a store near Bremen, the Marshall County Police Department reported.

On January 11, 2020 at 4:58 p.m., officials were called to a store regarding an alleged armed robbery involving two suspects, police said.

One suspect allegedly showed a gun and demanded money from the cash register, officials said. The two suspects left the scene in a dark blue, four-door vehicle.

During an investigation into the incident, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was able to identify one of the suspects involved in the robbery, 39-year-old Labrand Jay Holt-Spencer.

Holt-Spencer is currently serving time within the Michigan Departments of Corrections for an unrelated crime and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department holds an active arrest warrant against him for alleged armed robbery, officials reported.

Recently, the Sheriff’s Office learned the identity of the second suspect, 29-year-old Anita Slabaugh. The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office has filed criminal charges against Slabaugh, officials said.

Slabaugh was arrested on March 2, 2021 and is being held at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department on a $25,000 cash bond.

Slabaugh is facing an armed robbery charge, officials said.

UPDATE: In December 2021, Slabaugh pleaded guilty to armed robbery and the charge of theft was dismissed. She was sentenced to 6 years in prison with 3 years suspended and 3 years to be served in community corrections. She will also serve two years probation upon release.
