Woman faces multiple felonies after striking semi-truck and police car

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A 31-year-old woman is charged with several felonies after a May 2 incident that resulted in her crashing her vehicle into a semi-truck and a police car.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reports a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle just before 10 p.m. on May 2, after the vehicle had nearly struck him prior to activating his emergency lights.

The suspect vehicle, driven by Camica Shanique Gibbs, then failed to pull over according to the report.

Gibbs continued west on US 30 at a high rate of speed before colliding with the rear of a semi-truck near C.R. 1100E in Starke County.

Gibbs' vehicle then struck a Plymouth Police Department patrol car before coming to a stop in a ditch.

Gibbs was taken into custody shortly after.

The Plymouth officer was taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

Gibbs is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement causes Bodily Injury, a Level 5 Felony, Criminal Recklessness W/ Deadly Weapon (Weapons Law Violation-Society is Victim), a Level 6 Felony, Criminal Recklessness (Aggressive Driving/Serious Bodily Injury), a Level 6 Felony, and Resisting Law Enforcement - Flees with a Vehicle, a Level 6 Felony.

Gibbs' bond was set at $1,505.
