Woman killed while trying to cross road in Buchanan Township

BUCHANAN TOWNSHIP, Mich.-- A 36-year-old woman was killed trying to cross the road in Berrien County on Wednesday night, according to Michigan State Police.
Police say a farm truck was traveling down Red Bud Trail near Howe Lane and hit the woman, who was attempting to cross the road from the east, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police arrested a 65-year-old driver and say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The driver was charged with operating while intoxicated causing death.
The crash remains under investigation.
