Woman survives crash with minor injuries after flipping car

HAMMOND, Ind. -- A woman suffers non-life threatening injuries after flipping her vehicle upside down, according to Indiana State Police.

On Sunday around 8:35 p.m., Indiana State Troopers were alerted to a car that went off the roadway in Hammond.

Betty Markovich, 87, was driving west bound on I-80/94 when she went off the road and hit an attenuator, or crash cushion, near a ramp.

Markovich allegedly hit the attenuator with the front of her car causing it to overturn and stop on its roof.

She was taken to the Munster Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
