PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- A Marshall County nonprofit is trying to make roads safer especially for workers in construction zones.
Volunteers with the Ben Fisher Foundation are spreading the word about work zone safety after its co-founder Jo Fisher lost her son Ben to a reckless driver in Syracuse back in 2019, just one day after his 29th birthday.
Jo dedicates her time to reminding drivers to slow down and pay attention near orange construction cones. Earlier this month Governor Mike Braun designated April as Work Zone Awareness Month, making Indiana the first state in the nation to do so.
