October 16 is World Cat Day and is aimed at bringing awareness to humane and non-lethal programs for cats.
Cats are facing euthanizing at a significantly higher rate than any other shelter area.
There are programs that aim to capture and neuter cats and can help control populations.
To honor cats staff and viewers have sent in pictures of their beloved cats.
